Choose two students from the group and tell them that
they are going to play tennis with words. One student says a word; the other
will say another word related to the first word.
After a few words add two more players, so there will
be two players in each team (just like in tennis).
After a few more words, add two more players. Repeat until everyone is included in two teams. This is likea tennis match between two teams, with 4 or 5
players per team.
Scoring: If a players can’t come up with a word, or given an unrelated word the team loses
a point. With elementary learners, at first do not penalise them, but if they keep on repeating the same words Penalise them, and they will stop!
After reviewing many words, tell them that one player
from team A will say a word and another one from team B will use it in a
sentence. Team B player says a related word, and a different team A player makes a sentence; etc. Teams lose points if
they can’t make a sentence or if they say an unrelated word.
