Why this project

Disability activists started the fight for their rights in English speaking countries: Britain, the USA, Australia,...  These countries now have the most accessible facilities and disability laws are implemented (because disabled people organise campains to make sure the laws work).

In other countries, disabled people are still often in the poorest sections of society. they are less likely to go to school, or leave education at a younger age; they have less access to information; they are not expected to succeed: get 'real' jobs, get married, go to university, participate on international projects.

In many countries a few disabled people are now starting to go beyond these limits. They are becoming role models for others to follow.

To get support, many people now link with others through the internet - using 'English'.  This is the English we are looking at in this project: not perfect, just good enough: enough to share ideas and ask questions.
