The need for this project became clear during an EU Youth project, Maximizing Inclusive Participation during University Experience , (2-10 February 2008, Ankara, Turkey): many disabled people have difficulty learning enough English to participate on international projects.
Therefore the goals for this project were:
- To identify effective language activities used to enable
disabled people to communicate needs and opinions in English in
different countries
- To develop English teaching methodology suitable for disabled people (visually and hearing impaired)
- To
broaden the understanding of EFL (English as a Foreign Language) for
non-academic purposes, for disabled people at international meetings
- To investigate elements of communication necessary for international exchanges
- To raise the participation of disabled people and youngsters on international exchanges.
