I was brought up in Australia and completed my education at Hacettepe University Dep of Eng Lang Teaching.
I did my Master of Arts at M.E.T.U in Dep of Foreign Languages. I did my thesis on Teaching English to the Blind as a Second Language which helped me to get my job here in the States. I came to the States first in 1996 on a Fulbright Scholarship and returned here in 2002. I have lived and worked here since. I currently work at Los Angeles Unified School District in the Visually Impaired Program which is the biggest VI program in California. I work with students who are blind and with them we work on reading and writing braille, some of my students are partially sighted and with them we work with magnification devices helping them to access the curriculum. And the last group of students I work with are students who are not only visually impaired but also have mental challenges. So, I go to special education schools and we work with them with daily living skills and survival skills. |
