Credit card sized train/ bus/ metro tickets, with magnetic strips, are used in a number of cities.  After use they are thrown away.  But not always; in Ankara the magnetic cards were first used in about 1997, when Claire was visiting the Goreneller school for the blind and trying to teach English.  She needed the learners to show what they knew.  What better cards for brailling that small standard-sized quality cards, and free?

Since then some teachers have used them in numerous ways.
